After fifty-five years of vibrant history, unforgettable nights, and countless memories, The Scorpio Nightclub has turned off its disco balls and shut its doors for the last time on October 31, 2023. As we bid farewell to our legendary space on Freedom Drive, which has served as a sanctuary for the LGBTQ+ community in North Carolina, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the love and support that has made Scorpio much more than a nightclub—it has been a home.

The Scorpio has been a witness to the ebbs and flows of history, standing as a beacon of freedom and a safe haven for self-expression. It has seen first dates, last dances, and everything in between. The laughter, music, and solidarity experienced within its walls have left an indelible mark on our hearts.

This is not the end but the beginning of a new chapter. Our dedication to providing a safe and celebratory space for the LGBTQ+ community remains unwavering. We are diligently working to finalize our new venue, where the spirit of Scorpio will continue to thrive and welcome you with open arms.

In this interlude, we urge you to remember the importance of spaces like Scorpio. Gay bars and clubs have long been pillars of safety and joy for our community. Yet, these essential spaces are facing unprecedented challenges, disappearing by the dozens each year. They are more than just venues; they are corners of the world where our community can live openly and proudly.

Please, support your local gay bars. Patronize LGBTQ+ entertainment. Protect the spaces that have cradled our history and will foster our future. Your support is the foundation upon which our community stands strong.

We promise this is not a goodbye. It's merely a brief pause in the dance. Stay tuned, stay proud, and stay united. We will be back soon, ready to welcome you to the dance floor once again.
